When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead

I highly recommend this book! I received a recommendation from a librarian at my local library, so I knew it must be good. Boy, was I right! This book is about a girl named Miranda who lives in a small New York apartment with her mother. Lately, Miranda has been receiving letters from 'you'. In the letters, you told her to write a letter in response about her life even though she does not know who you are. Basically, this whole book is her letter. Although the book doesn't start with "Dear Sender" or doesn't end with "Sincerely, Miranda", it is still her letter. In the book, Miranda has a best friend named Sal. When something happens that ruins Miranda and Sal's friendship, Miranda hangs out with another girl named Annmarie and Colin. Lately, Annmarie and her best friend named Julia stop being friends. Miranda takes that opportunity to become friends with Annmarie. Colin, Annmarie and Miranda start working at a sandwich shop during lunch every day at school. A boy who took part in ruining Miranda and Sal's friends ship talks to Miranda about time travel. The whole conversation about time travel really confused me, but don't just not read the book because of a small (yet important) part. That part ends up solving who the letter sender is. A mysterious homeless man on the corner keeps kicking at cars and yelling "Smart Kid!" at Miranda as she walks by. What could it all mean? This book is filled with adventure, mystery and science, you'll love it!
I recommend this book for kids with ages ranging from 9 to 12
I give is five stars.

Christopher Paolini creates a masterpiece once again. As book 2 in the Inheritance series, this book has captivated many for years and years to come. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. ELDEST is the sequel to ERAGON. Here is a summary of ELDEST:
During the battle of Farthen Dur, the dwarf king and leader of the Varden, Ajihad, was killed. Murtagh disappears. Therefore, Nasuada, Ajihad's daughter, becomes the leader of the Varden with Eragon's blessing. Eragon and Saphira travel to Elesmera, the elven capital, to resume their training as Dragon and Rider. There, they meet the only other Dragon and Rider on the Varden's side still living. Eragon learns what it means to be a dragon rider and how to cast more spells. Saphira learns flying and aerial combat skills. Meanwhile, Roran, Eragon's cousin, plans on marrying Katrina Ismira-Daughter.
Then the Ra'zac attack Roran's town, everyone must escape to the Varden, on the other side of Alagaesia. They also take Katrina. Eragon and Roran meet again at the battle of the Burning plains because Eragon is there to fight and for Roran it is where the Varden is with Eragon. Eragon swears to get Katrina back to Roran, for they are engaged. 7 and up.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Christopher Paolini creates a magical world that you could only imagine could be real. Here is a summary of ERAGON:
When Eragon, a poor, 15 year old farm boy finds a dragon egg in the magical mountain range nearby his home, he does not know what to think. But when the dragon egg hatches and forms a everlasting bond with Eragon, their adventures begin. Then Garrow, Eragon's uncle gets killed by the evil Ra'zac, Eragon swears to conquer them. With help from Brom and Murtagh, he travels to the base of the Varden (the rebel forces against the evil king, Galbatorix) to help them just in time for a battle against Galbatorix's Urgals (giant gnome-like creatures) and a Shade (an evil-possessed human). Eragon ends up in a fierce fight with the Shade. Do you think he will defeat the Shade Durza?

A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd

First of all, I rate this book 5/5 stars. In the book, a  girl named Felicity Pickle moves to a small town, Midnight Gulch, which used to be magic, where her mom grew up. Felicity has a special power to see words. That is right, I said see. She sees them every were; on the ground, in the air, inside and outside. Apparently, Felicity and her family are cursed with a wondering heart. In the end, Felicity is in a talent show and she thinks she can stop the curse. Do you think she will be able to?  I think that the theme of A Snicker of Magic is that every one should have a place to call home. You would like this book if you like adventure and maybe a little magic in the books you read.
Recommended age to read: 10+
